I was over 50 before I walked into my first yoga studio.
I had weight issues, sore knees, stiff joints, hot flushes and a busy mind that had trouble keeping still.
I also sensed that aerobics, pump class and pounding it out hard at a gym circuit didn’t seem to address any issues other than giving me a little more muscle tone. Don’t get me wrong, muscle tone is great especially when you feel you never had any. But it still didn’t address my adrenal fatigue, weightgain, sore knees and other menopausal issues. I employed a Personal Trainer who worked me hard. She noticed my body shape wasn’t changing. I was still stressed, seemed to be worsening my knee pain and the busy mind revved up with the elliptical machine speed.
Then Yoga came into my life at the suggestion of a friend. What could it hurt?
Ditch the new years resolutions of ‘getting healthy and eating better’
and start a ‘revolution’ of ‘ageing backwards into the future’.
I believe every woman over 50 has the ability to kick some serious butt in business, in life by sharing their wisdom to a greater audience.
You have life experience, education, years of street smarts, traumas, celebrations and heartaches that have taught you lessons that our younger sisters have not yet learned.
Whether you’re not quite at your midlife mark yet, walked past it or even looking toward your twilight years, I believe 50 today is more of a ‘prime’ stage of life than it was for our previous generations. In our parents era, it might have been 40 when a woman hit her prime and oddly enough 50 and beyond was considered aged.

I decided to create this blog post because I was diagnosed a good while back with Adrenal Fatigue and Chronic Insomnia. This is how I’ve managed to get on top of it. Am I now 100%? Not totally. But in a much better place than where I started. My years of study in the menopausal field has included Adrenal Fatigue, so this is my personal experience and culmination of how I interpret the medical information. I must mention, one of my favourite books and authors is ‘Adrenal Fatigue’ – The 21st century stress syndrome. By James L. Wilson N.D. PhD. Much of what I present here is an interpretation of this fabulous work combined with my own experience with AF.
