I went from long dark hair to short white hair within a year! And I’m so pleased I did. As a Yoga Passionista and Activist for the Fabulous Fifties and Sensational Sixties, going grey is a major topic of conversation. Do I or don’t I? How do I deal with the grow out and what can…
What’s healthy, filling, sweet, dairy free but still low GI and ideal not only at breakfast but at any time? Anne’s 3 Grain Bircher Muesli!!! Do you ever come across favourite recipes that you try in restaurants or hotels, you want to make it yourself but you find that the chef has added a heap of…
Are you fed up with boring gym workouts? Has the gym equipment you bought off the telly never been pulled out of the box? You walk everyday but you know it isn’t quite enough and in fact, your knees are now starting to play up. I get it – that was me. In fact, way…
Get leaner, burn blood glucose, look younger, boost metabolism, clear brain fog and age brilliantly. There’s a form of movement that seems to be all over the net right now that is nirvana for the 40+. There are books on it everywhere and some of my favourite doctors are talking about it. So I decided to…
I was over 50 before I walked into my first yoga studio.
I had weight issues, sore knees, stiff joints, hot flushes and a busy mind that had trouble keeping still.
I also sensed that aerobics, pump class and pounding it out hard at a gym circuit didn’t seem to address any issues other than giving me a little more muscle tone. Don’t get me wrong, muscle tone is great especially when you feel you never had any. But it still didn’t address my adrenal fatigue, weightgain, sore knees and other menopausal issues. I employed a Personal Trainer who worked me hard. She noticed my body shape wasn’t changing. I was still stressed, seemed to be worsening my knee pain and the busy mind revved up with the elliptical machine speed.
Then Yoga came into my life at the suggestion of a friend. What could it hurt?
Ditch the new years resolutions of ‘getting healthy and eating better’
and start a ‘revolution’ of ‘ageing backwards into the future’.
I believe every woman over 50 has the ability to kick some serious butt in business, in life by sharing their wisdom to a greater audience.
You have life experience, education, years of street smarts, traumas, celebrations and heartaches that have taught you lessons that our younger sisters have not yet learned.
Whether you’re not quite at your midlife mark yet, walked past it or even looking toward your twilight years, I believe 50 today is more of a ‘prime’ stage of life than it was for our previous generations. In our parents era, it might have been 40 when a woman hit her prime and oddly enough 50 and beyond was considered aged.
What is Adrenal Fatigue?
How do you know if you have it?
What do you do about it?
I decided to create this blog post because I was diagnosed a good while back with Adrenal Fatigue and Chronic Insomnia. This is how I’ve managed to get on top of it. Am I now 100%? Not totally. But in a much better place than where I started. My years of study in the menopausal field has included Adrenal Fatigue, so this is my personal experience and culmination of how I interpret the medical information. I must mention, one of my favourite books and authors is ‘Adrenal Fatigue’ – The 21st century stress syndrome. By James L. Wilson N.D. PhD. Much of what I present here is an interpretation of this fabulous work combined with my own experience with AF.
